
Reverend Dr. Angelo Sullivan is a committed leader actively engaged with the dynamic community of Washington, D.C. His experiences within the district’s public school system have provided him with a robust foundation that reinforces his dedication to lifelong learning and personal development. Dr. Sullivan has accepted the senior pastor role at the Court Street Baptist Church in Lynchburg, VA (March 2025).
Dr. Sullivan began his spiritual journey at the age of seven when he was introduced to Christ and baptized at the Community Bible Baptist Church under the guidance of the esteemed Reverend Dr. Clevester O. Wimbish. This significant event sparked a lifelong commitment to his faith, shaped his values, and laid the foundation for his ministry.
Dr. Sullivan embraced his divine calling and dedicated himself to God’s service by accepting a path in ministry in December 2010. His fervent commitment to the Gospel was soon acknowledged, resulting in his licensure to preach the sacred message of Jesus Christ on July 24, 2011. As time progressed, his life evolved into a powerful testimony of faith and service, culminating in his ordination on July 30, 2022.
Dr. Sullivan stands out for his transformative approach to preaching and teaching, establishing profound connections with congregations while nurturing an atmosphere conducive to growth and understanding. He earned an Associate Degree in Religious Studies from Union Bible Theological Seminary in 2016 and a Bachelor’s in Theology from Slidell Baptist Seminary in 2019. He achieved a pivotal milestone in his academic career by earning a Master of Divinity from Virginia University of Lynchburg in 2023, graduating Summa Cum Laude—highlighting his commitment to excellence and scholarly diligence. Dr. Sullivan completed the Doctor of Ministry Degree in 2025, specializing in educational ministry at the Leonard N. Smith School of Religion at Virginia University of Lynchburg. In addition to his academic pursuits, he is an active member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated.
At the core of Dr. Sullivan’s life and ministry is a profound belief in the promise that God will provide perfect peace as he maintains a steadfast focus on Christ. This assurance is rooted in his favorite scripture, Isaiah 26:3, which encapsulates the essence of his faith and serves as a beacon amidst life’s challenges. His commitment to communicating this message of hope and peace resonates profoundly within his community, guiding others on their spiritual journeys.
